Prayer:
This morning, Lord, as the storms rage around us and the tornado sirens awaken us, I am reminded of Elijah sheltering in the cave. You came to him not in the gusting wind, rumbling earthquake,

or blistering inferno, but in a low whisper—a gentle voice. Your majesty and strength reveal themselves not in destruction but in the grace of restraint and the gift of forgiveness.
Jesus, though we are unworthy, your love for us remains steadfast. I pray for those yet to feel your love and for those confronting morning storms without the assurance of salvation. I ask for the protection of our friends and family in this region as they navigate the storms. Please protect the EMS workers, first responders, and all those bravely assisting those affected.
In Jesus’ name I ask these things.
Amen.
Reflection on how God speaks to us:
God’s voice is not always found in the loud and chaotic moments of life. Elijah experienced this firsthand when he encountered God on the mountain. Different translations of 1 Kings 19:12 capture this moment in unique ways:
• NIV: “a gentle whisper”
• ESV: “the sound of a low whisper”
• AMP: “a sound of gentle stillness and a still, small voice”
• MSG: “a gentle and quiet whisper”
• NKJV: “a still small voice”
Each translation paints a picture of God’s presence—subtle, soft, yet profoundly powerful. While the world clamors for attention through storms and noise, God speaks in a way that requires stillness to hear.
Today, as storms rage outside or within, let us be still and listen. His voice is not found in the chaos but in the quiet, in the whisper that calls us back to Him.
Prayer Focus:
• May we have ears to hear God’s whisper amid life’s noise.
• Protection and peace for those facing physical and spiritual storms.
• Strength for first responders and those offering aid.
• A heart that trusts in God’s presence, even when He speaks softly.
