Scripture for Reflection:

"A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret." — Proverbs 11:13 (NIV)

"The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts." — Proverbs 18:8 (NIV)

"Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips." — Psalm 141:3 (NIV)

Prayer Entry:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with gratitude for the countless opportunities You provide for growth and learning, both in my personal life and at work. Recently, I stumbled upon 16 Proverbs that poignantly remind us of the destructive power of gossip. Steve Gandara, during my training, referred to gossip as the "cancer of cultures," and those words struck a chord with me.

I earnestly pray that You guard my ears from the whispers of gossip and keep my lips sealed from spreading it. Instead of engaging in conversations that tear down, I want to be a source of life-giving words, strength, and calm in my relationships. Help me to cultivate an atmosphere of peace and unity among my friends and family.

Lord, teach me to choose words that heal, uplift, and encourage rather than divide. Let me be an example of integrity, someone who speaks with wisdom and love. Help us root out gossip from our lives and replace it with holy conversations that glorify You. I trust in Your guidance and in the transformative power of Your love.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Reflection Question:

How can we create a culture in our homes and workplaces that discourages gossip and encourages words of life?
